Marci Myers - Director

My name is Marci Myers and my journey with The Haven started in 2002. I, like many of you who may be looking for help, suffered from anxiety, depression, anger, fear, trauma, and pain. I had sought refuge in alcohol, drugs and gambling. I knew for myself I was not going to be living much longer with my addictions and health issues and I made that scary decision to walk through the doors of the Haven. I was introduced to a recovery program surrounded by women. What was different for me was that I changed and listened to others instead of my scared, inner child. As I began the process of recovery and began living one day at a time, I realized this program had saved my life. There was so much life to live without having to alter my state of being. I found this new lifestyle and version of myself was paying off in so many ways. I repaired broken relationships. Shortly after I began my sober journey I received the gift of a chance to give back what was so freely given to me. I was asked to be a House Supervisor and that gave me the chance to share not only what I had learned but was able to help other women as they began their journey when they walked through those same doors. In 2015 another door opened and I became the Director of the Haven! I am Marci Myers and I choose each day to be a better version of myself and lead by example. I am here to help you step over the threshold of those same doors at The Haven that not only saved my life but has saved and helped so many women.

Karen Vaughn - House Supervisor

Hello my name is Karen Vaughn. I came to the Haven a very broken, sick, hopeless, helpless girl who suffered from Substance Use Disorder. I was addicted to drugs and had given up on life. I spent over 20 years in addiction and it was eventually going to kill me . Thankfully, before that occurred, I came to the Haven, a place that has forever changed my life. I found so much encouragement and love from the women who worked there. They showed me how to love myself for the first time in a long time . They offered this freely and unconditionally. I was introduced into a recovery program that would show me how to live life on life’s terms…simple but not always easy…I chose to fight for my life and eventually I began to believe I was worthy of living. I was blessed with the opportunity to be employed here in 2015 as a house supervisor and today I am doing what was so freely done for me, showing women that they, too, can recover and have a life that is beyond their wildest dreams. A healthy and happy lifestyle filled with gratitude, resilience, strength, and hope. I am a daughter, mother and grandmother (known as Noni) . Today this is only possible because of the Haven and its recovery program that taught me everything I needed to know to be successful in my recovery journey. I’m grateful for a second chance and will continue to do my best by leading by example, and paving the way for others who come behind me.
